Austin is alright. It actually has the legendary "dry heat" where 105 degrees doesn't feel as bad as one might imagine. It's still not awesome. Also, the downtown area lacks chain restaurants, which means a guy who is alone and wants simple takeout dinner cannot get it

Yeah, it's fucking hot here.

I recommend trying out Casino El Camino for the most fantastic burgers (but bring a book, they're notoriously slow) and Stubb's for some BBQ.

If you want more swanky, Roy's and Fogo de Chao are right there at the convention center and REALLLY fucking good. Roy's is hawaiian fusion steakhouse and Fogo is a brasilian churrascaria where they bring you endless meat on skewers until you burst.

Also, Moonshine's is good too, they have a good brunch menu.

I might have some time tonight or tomorrow after 7 or so, but they're keeping me fairly busy and I've been taking naps. I think it'll be really short notice if I do, but I'll try and figure out if I can clear some time!

Oop, Tuesdays are bad for me. I have standing Tuesday plans with my friend Tina. We're going to Barton Springs to freeze our boobies off in the 68 degree water and then have dinner at Magnolias.

It's non-simplistic - these are local restaurants and I have no idea what they actually have.

Eating crappy food with someone else is fine. Eating crappy food alone is unacceptable.

Vicente Fernandez is 68, so probably the 'stach and eyebrows have all been dyed. I guess it's his trademark, but it makes that grin at the end especially creeeepy. I like his voice, though.
