Ask Dr. LJ--advice on carbon offsets?

So I've done a good bit of traveling this summer. I put 2000 miles on my car since about the end of April, I've had a few round trips by air, and I'm planning some more flying soon. This is awesome, but I know that it does involve burning fossil fuels. I'd like to try to reduce or counter the negative impact of that ( Read more... )

It is definitely true that some are far more useful than others; the Tufts Climate Initiative did a review of them and their top recs are at the bottom of that page. (There's a link in the left sidebar to the full report, which is many pages and in PDF form, but also informative.)

Okay, with Google translate, it seems that this is Russian text that says "Auto maniac" in the subject line, and "Very interesting to write, but very few examples that prove your position(".

Interesting.

And a whois search identifies the URL with an ISTITUTO CENTRALE PER IL SOSTENTAMENTO DEL CLERO in Rome. Translated from Italian, that appears to mean Central Institute for the Sustenance of the Clergy. I'm guessing that it's a bot posting from that IP, not someone sitting in a clerical institute in Rome making an LJ comment in Russian on a US journal...
