I'm still getting used to this place. It's been a couple of days, and I've been reading and looking around, but I haven't written anything yet, so here goes-

[And he raises his head suddenly, scanning Truth's face before fixing him with a rather pointed gaze.]
-that does not preclude you finding work. And a shave might help in that regard.
[He doesn't look away immediately, running his thumb over the edge of the journal unconsciously, then his gaze shifts to the side as the silence stretches on into that moment that is just beyond the comfortable.]
It was just a dream.
[But even he can tell that his voice lacks conviction. And at the back of his mind he wonders again about the irrational fear that had almost paralyzed him the first day, when he had tried to use the elevator.]

[He shrugs a bit, running his left thumb across his neck. His index finger taps against his chin for a moment before he lowers it.]
Yeah, but if it's the only thing you can remember...it makes dismissing it a little hard.

[He smirks, perhaps a bit too evilly.[
Or do you need some assistance with that?
[He doesn't look back at Truth immediately. He can almost feel those blue eyes on him and they remind him a little too vividly of the dream - of the complete conviction that he had killed someone and gotten away with it. When he does turn his head his expression is tightly controlled.]
I apologise for my reaction when you woke me. I was not entirely in my right mind.

[He gestures in the air when he says it, pointing a bit just to make sure it gets across.
The silence runs on for a few seconds, and he meets those eyes. Cold, like steel, but he's certain they are the same as from his dream.]
It's understandable.
[There's a small shrug]
I mean...I was a little shaken by it, too. And it seems like your dream wasn't so great.
[Understatement. Of. The. Year.]

No trust between siblings, Truth? How disappointing.
[His fingers tighten on the journal reflexively when their eyes meet, and for a second there is the stench of blood and smoke hanging in the air between them. He looks away again, quickly, a frown settling on his face.]
Nevertheless, as you say. It is all that I have.

[He tilts his head a bit, hoping to catch his gaze again, and when he speaks, he smiles softly.]
It's not all that you've got, just all you can remember. You have me...and Hybrid. That's a start, right?

Don't patronise me, Truth - I'm not a child.
[And he pushes himself to his feet, tossing the jounrnal onto the bed and crossing the room to the window.]
Perhaps being born on the same day doen't mean anything. Perhaps we don't know each other at all. Not really.
[or perhaps if we did, we were not friends.]
