I've got a knack for backing the wrong technological horses.

I trump you! Paraphrase of conversation between me and campustud in 1993:

campusstud This is NTSC Mosaic. It's a 'web' browser.
chaleur23 Ummm....why?
campusstud Well, you can see graphics and stuff.
chaleur23 Yeah. It's horrid slow. No one is ever going to use this 'web' thing when we already have gopher.

In '87, I insisted I needed a '286 so I could run next-generation protected mode OSes like OS/2.

If the bunnies throw it back, you can always haul it in to work and have Steve (your new Erik) haul it away.

"If no one wants them I'll drop them in some pristine wildlife preserve so they can leach heavy metals into bunny warrens."

You know that breaks half a dozen US technology export rules, right? Improper disposal of technology could result in advancement of the squirrels' encryption and missile guidance capabilities. That imbalance will force the bunnies to turn to the Canadians for aid. CANADIAN-BACKED BUNNIES ON OUR DOORSTEP!! Do you want to be responsible for that? Do you?
