Are fish any less of animals than a cow or a pig?

Where did you learn your facts? Land animals don't have a thought span the same as ours. Cats and dogs have a thought span of about 16 hours, so I can't imagine a pig's or a cow's is much longer.

And why not cut out both?

actually a land animal has a large thought span.. have you ever went on vacation and couldnt bring your pet.. they sure do remember after a week or however long you were gone..

where did you learn yours? How do you think dogs and cats learn things by behavior-modification? It certainly isn't by forgetting it tomorrow. How do you think dog's get house trained?

*sigh* Go ahead and look up your facts hun. But is it really wise to go cold turkey when someone is USED to having meat? And wouldnt you rather look at the situation logically and pick the better choice rather than be judgemental like you are doing to jill?

I've read up on house animals' thought spans. Learned behaviour like house training, is more ingrained, but things like general memory are virtually only half a day long. Humans don't remember everything either.

I wasn't being judgmental, I was asking to try to figure out HER logic behind it. To go on a tirade about the rights of animals but then agreeing to eat fish seems hypocritical to me. If I were to make a stand about the rights of animals that are being eaten, I'd go all the way through with it.

And also, just because a fish's life memory is shorter doesn't make its life worth less.

I didn't say you were a hypocrite, Jill. I said your actions seemed hypocritical.

This whole conversation got out of hand; I just wanted to know what your reasoning behind your choice was. Don't be upset; I wasn't trying to instigate anything.

I do NOT see you trying to put you making a stand for anything.. I am sacrificing alot.. why? because I am an animal lover..
and just because I will not object to eating a piece of cod once in a while does not make me hypocritical..

All right, just me, as an animal lover, I would stand up for the rights of fish as well. I'm sorry we differ in that opinion.
