Wonderful, comic, and downright pleasing to read. Bravo!...my Baal muse wants to know if its safe now for him to date Miko...(got an idea for an McK/M fic)...Weir with a predatory mien - she's iduve? :) ..."He had to get the hang of women one of these days. Surely, they couldn't be that difficult to figure out" How many centuries are you going to be around, Rodney? :) dare I ask for a sequel?
I dont really see him likely to date Miko, not here, since he's already let her down and told her he's dating someone else - even though he so isn't. :D I think he might not correct people because it might be useful... Sequel, hmm, I'm not sure. I don't have a plot for a sequel right now. I was just pleased to finish this! It was alot of hard work to complete the challenge. Still, I'm sure there must be an amusing piece in the idea he'd have sessions with Elizabeth while everyone thinks he's gonig out with Miko. I'll think about it at least, but got my other ficathon challenge to finish first. :)
As a QOS fan once told me (about a fic's plot), weddings of convenience rarely turn out convenient...or something like that. So Rodney might find himself slowly falling into ship-orbit around both Elizabeth and Miko. just a thought.
and that thought does not detract from my enjoyment of the story. bravo!
I could imagine it would be amusing seeing him try to keep up the idea he was with Miko, and yet also attempting to get to know Elizabeth better and between that it would all go horribly wrong somehow. :D I don't know how but it could be a great comedy of errors. Just need a more definite bunny,
If you think about it using Rodney logic, he already knows people well enough, but yes, he sooo underestimates women - they can't be understood... not even one of them. But it would be fun seeing him try, wouldn't it? *evil grin*
I really enjoyed this story so much! It's amazing, and an attestation of your talent, how much secondary character developement you were able to incorporate into the story while still making me feel that it was centered around Rodney and his feelings for Elizabeth--despcriptions of their sessions with Rodney was a perfect way to glean more of their characters.
I also liked the idea that it was not just Kate, but Rodney as well, that contributed to their 'breakup.' It's nice that he realized Kate wasn't right for him, that he needed someone with more passion. Rodney's not desperate, he just has high standards. Like Elizabeth....;-)
Anyways, to end my rambling, I think this really, really worked and felt very complete and satisfying. Not that I would mind reading a sequel if the bunny ever jumps at you...
Oh, and tiny error: “I'll have to take you offer into consideration, but for now... :)
Do you mean Katie? As Kate is Heightmeyer the psychologist/psychiatrist and Katie is Dr. Brown the botanist.
Anyway, I thought since we've heard no more of Katie that somehow it didn't work out. So I gave it a reason; she's nice, too nice for him. :D
Thanks for the feedback. It's good to know what sounded such a weird challenge actually worked out. It really was challenging, but nice if I've suceeded in it. :)
d'oh! Yes, I meant Katie Brown. Why did they have to have two characters with such similar names? I wonder if Katie will be mentioned in the upcoming ep with Cadman?
