Completely have to agree with all your comments. The writing is cliched and the plot is over-the-top and the cinematography doesn't impress. But I like Dolly :D and I can't stop watching, even though most of ep3 was dire ;)
I think, despite its other faults - which are legion - if they had good dialogue it would be much less painful. Primeval can be wonky here and there, but in general the dialogue is sensible and fairly realistic, not pretentious claptrap. If they cannot get the plot along in Bonekickers without speechifying, there's something wrong. The action, though idiotic in real terms, is quite exciting, and the cast is good, but they don't talk like real people often enough.
I do like Dolly, Ben is nice, ViV is not bad, and even Gillian is okay at times.
