Hm. Thank you for that - the whole addiction malaise seemed so terribly rushed on the show that stories dealing with it are always a plus. And, finally, finally one from Weir's POV, shedding some light on her non-reaction.

Sometimes (often) I think TPTB leave out scenes on purpose: that they want to rush along and tell their story in 43 minutes, so anything that they don't have time for but can sort of handwave they leave out, saying "Oh, the fans will figure it out! They'll write fic!"

I think this story is what they were hoping for. TPTB should pay *you* for doing their job.

Lovely! The whole thing was a bit rushed on the show, and this is just a beautiful way of dealing with it.

I love that fourth-to-last paragraph ("She wonders if he has a need to justify...") So wonderful; great insight into both of them.

WOW! Brilliant!

Way to make sense of a scene that truly didn't! I really had difficulty reconciling this scene when I watched the ep and you've managed to give it a beleivable and beautifully angsty meaning that the episode itself didn't manage.
