Ooh, I do dare hope to wonder if we might see him again. Maybe as a ghost. Definitely in the flashback-recaps at the beginning of every episode, and we'll probably here at least one recurring Fed character mention him in passing. I wonder if we might see Linda Blair as Detective Ballard again?
THIS IS BOTH A RELIEF AND TERRIFYING, THOUGH:When I first heard about things getting 'claustrophobic' and the Winchesters 'facing a powerful enemy' that they don't have many resources against, I automatically thought that Cas was going to try and hunt them down (he still might, but it's looking more and more like that's law enforcement they were talking about).
My pet theory is that Misha will be made a series star. They keep saying he won't be a series regular, Jensen has said recurring stars work quite a bit, but I have not seen Sera quoted as saying "Misha will be on recurring status."
Unless I missed something. And there's a lot of material out there, lol!
Certainly a recurring guest star could conceivably appear in every episode! Jim certainly appeared in 14 eps last season (which was one more than Misha).
However lack of being a regular does indicate he's at least not locked in as an integral part of the plot for the whole season, because without that contract, Misha is obviosuly free to seek work elsewhere, and could become unavailable. I still think we'll see him beyond episode two, but in a much more minor role.
I hadn't thought of the law being a potential enemy. Not after Jus in Bello. But it makes sense. I'd thought of Castiel, who does, after all, know the boys' habits and boltholes.
I think it's most likely to be left with the boys not knowing if Cas survived or not. I think Cas is going to have the meltdown EVERYONE said would happen if he ate Purgatory. I think that the boys won't know if that means he's really dead - or if it's possible the GodTouch that has brought him back twice, could bring him back again.
This, plus the lack of regular status, will let the writers bring him back if and when they want to.
As for the boys - Meg and Crowley are the only Bads left standing. It makes sense that they get another Bad after them. It also makes sense for that to be a human - as the Supernatural elements all have a list of reasons to tattoo "DO NOT ENGAGE" on their asses.
I think they regret how the FBI story ended - not losing Hendricks - but losing that threat. If they do lose Cas, I can see it revealed that he was running interference from the religious fanatics that Zach set on them in S5. I can also see the angels using the FBI/law enforcement.
