"Something altogether random and improbable" or "Was a pegasus"

Okay, so I've been wanting to "streamline" the userinfo for dreamoftomarrow for a while, now. I recently re-did my own and finally decided to work on dreamoftomarrow's in a similar format. Think of this post as a "draft." Normally for these kinds of things, I friends-lock the entry so that only my fellow mods can see. In this case, though, I thought it might be useful to ( Read more... )

links, mod duties, creations, last unicorn, icons, like a good book, communities

that is really cool looking. I have no idea about the tagline, let me sleep on it, ok?

Hm :o I think the main banner should be the same width as the tables. It seems rather small.

I like how the tables are all fragmented, though. Really does organize things a bit.

That's one of the original images created by our founder, connertiernan. On the one hand, I'd like to keep it nostalgia's sake. On the other hand, I do understand what you're saying. I'll see what everyone else thinks. Maybe we'll see about making something new.

You know how you've been working on something for FOREVER, and when you step back, you can't stand looking at it anymore? That's kind of how I felt about this. So I'm glad you like it - it gives me a little boost of confidence.

Thank you for the feedback!

The more I come back and look at this the more I have to agree that the header image really ought to be closer in size to the table. We could still use the same image for it, just re-crop it a little and freshen it up.

Like I said, I could go either way. I probably wouldn't be up to making it myself, though. The table is 620 pixels wide for anyone so inclined.

I am inclined to go with absolutelybatty's idea of putting the resources in their own post. I feel like I've suggested it in the past, actually. Then again, I may have just thought about it at some point, and just made up the fact that I actually suggested it. Anything's possible. Anyway, the point is, the more I think about it, the more I think it's a good idea!

o.O Wow, that's a long user info.

I think maybe some of the links, resources, etc could have their own pages. Like they get posted to their own entry and get one link on the user info? That would just clean it up a bit.

However, I think it looks snazzy either way, and my suggestion is just that, a suggestion.

Yes, it is. Hence, the "streamlining."

Giving the resources, links, etc. their own post is definitely something I've thought about. I can't remember if it's something I brought up with the other mods or not. If I did it was ages ago, and we haven't touched the info pages in a while. It's a little over-due, actually!

Thank you for your input! We will definitely take your suggestion into consideration!

I actually have a funny story about that. See, back when I was a Sophomore in college, my roommate dragon_fall decided to take a German class. Why she didn't take French, which she had studied in high school, or Spanish, which I know quite well, even she could never explain. One of her first assignments was to write a paragraph about her favourite movie. Naturally, dragon_fall turned to Babelfish for "help" her explaining the basic plotline of Legend. The leading actor in the movie came back as Tom Kreuzfahrt. Then, dragon_fall started saying to herself "Okay, unicorn, what's the German word of 'unicorn?'"

Without even thinking, I said "Einhorn."

In a voice of shock, dragon_fall said "You speak Spanish! How do you know that?"

My only response was "I - I don't know!"

And that is how I made it into one of dragon_fall's German assignments, and how an over-rated actor from a crazy cult will forever be known to me as Kreuzfahrt.

That's funny. Several more of my friends from college took Japanese, including katala21, who had also taken some Spanish. She told me that the vowels in Japanese and Spanish are pronounced the same, so now whenever I do say anything in Japanese, I get teased for doing it in a Hispanic accent. Ah, teh melting pot!
