Yet another thefridayfive that made me hungry!

  1. What is your favorite 'food' holiday? It's hard to decide. Thanksgiving is basically all about food, and there is some good stuff! Both your Christmas Eve feast and 4th of July sound like a lot of fun. :)

I used to love the candy aspect as a kid, but there were also special treats, like getting some of Mrs. Bottomini's homemade raviolis and clam dip. We only had those at Christmas time and what a treat they were.

Being a foodie, I'm heading into "Most Wonderful Time of the Year"!

Great answers!

I have such a sweet tooth, even still. We have the usual stuff, like cookies and chocolates, then my sister brings us canoli from Mike's Pastry in Boston when she comes out for Christmas! That homemade ravioli and clam dip?! That sounds amazing! Was Mrs. Bottomini a neighbor, or can you get her things at a store?

Oh my goodness yes! SO much amazing food! I have a tendency to over-do it!

Great answers!

Thank you!

She was my da's first mother-in-law. He lost his first wife at a very young age and ended up marrying my mum. She excelled at making ravioli and my mum's clam dip was so fabulous. I miss it so much (I have developed an allergy to clams in my later life)

Heck, who am I kidding? I'm a foodie, I over do it all the time. :D

That sucks about being allergic to clams! The ravioli and dip sound amazing! I know what you mean about missing them. My grandfather used to make these fig-filled cookies around the holidays that were sorta like biscotti, only soft. I used to look forward to seeing that package in the mail every December. I really miss them and still get cravings for them every once in a while.

It is quite a an impressive feast! I think it is considered a celebration, though.
