Oh, I'm glad Tony was as flustered by his angry assertive lover as I was!
Steve had the ring made out of a chip out of his shield, that's just so incredibly symbolic. I love that he's willing to weaken himself permenantly and symbolically due to his love for Tony, yet it isn't played up so much that it loses the meaning.
This whole story is kinda fucking beautiful and ten shades of hottttt. Actually, it starts off with the all kinds of hotness, raw and dirty fucking all over the place, and ends in a surprisingly emotional place. And every single ounce of pain and sweetness was earned; I think my heart broke alongside Tony's as he contemplated Steve's expressions of sadness.
and lemme say, the ring made of vibranium? My heart!!! I think it's because he essentially made an indestructible ring out of something so incredibly intimately part of himself.... I'm shocked Tony didn't bolt halfway around the world in the face of that ring!
I'm kind of smiling like a loon right now, thank you for your sweet words :D
That ring! I'm still doubtful whether or not I rushed Steve giving it to him or if Tony should have fought against it even longer. I do hope this works for you, otherwise I'd love concrit :)
No, it's kind of perfect just the way it is. Because even Tony knows--Steve would go out immediately and buy a ring the moment he fell in love. He's a fundamentally honest man and I love how he simply offers his heart to Tony, completely brave, knowing he's probably going to be shot down but unable to just sit complacently as Tony does his self-pitying best to deny their connection. Srsly, my heart died a little there.
of course, Tony probably would run halfway around the world and hide, but in the interests of not breaking Steve's heart, it's imperative that he come back and face the music.
I really liked this, the give and take between Steve and Tony and Steve knowing Tony so well and risking is heart anyway on the hope that Tony will love him back. And that Tony will start to really need all that hot hot sex Steve was giving him too.
