Oh hurray for a perfect storm! Welcome home. Er, virtually, I mean.
If you like Holmes/Watson, I recommend the nicely canon work of Haldane. No one can tenderly wield a riding crop like she can. But you probably know her stuff already.
Thanks for the rec! That sounds familiar, but I was thinking of daylyn's riding crop Holmes slash posted to the Cox & Co Livejournal. Nope, never heard of haldane - by the way, I think that's a he, not a she. Maybe you are thinking of k_haldane? I have never seen her fiction posted anywhere - are you sure she's a writer? Anyway, if you have a link, would love to read. Thanks!
Oh, thanks for the links. I see now that I have to verify her age to view her story - I had checked her LJ but thought that link to the fics was just a general slash fic link rather than her own writing. Thanks very much - I never would have found her fics otherwise, and Holmesslash is so rare, I'm always glad to find more.
Aw, thanks! It was such a good idea. I think I read another H/W summer vacation fic, something about the two of them at an arcade. The only caveat is that I'm from Long Island and we call it "going to the beach." Jersey people call it "going down the shore" for some mysterious reason. I have never even been the Jersey shore but I'll have to bluff my way through the finer details :)
Thanks - that's Polihale State Park on the island of Kauai, my friends and I camped there and it was lovely. Yes, it's hard to make the transition - school starts Wednesday and then I'm going to be insanely busy, but hopefully not too busy to pursue my slashy interests! Thanks for the well wishes.
I hear Kauai is a beautiful place, one of those places where you feel like you want to really sit in front of the beach like you're in a movie watching the sun set. Oh, god, school is such a hassle right in the beginning; I know what you're talking about.
Oh, it surely is like paradise! My good friend moved there a few years ago and I miss her terribly, but understand why she left New York to be in such a lovely place.
Yeah, I happen to work for a university, so today is our last day of peace and quiet before classes begin tomorrow. I'm also a student so my class starts tomorrow - I take just one class per semester, but still, it's a solid 8 hours a week of studying and 3.5 of lecture and lab so it tends to crunch my schedule even tighter than it already is - I'll be gone from 8:30 AM to 9:00 or 10:00 PM every day except Saturday, when I leave at 11:30 AM, and Sunday, my one free day, when I tend to sleep for 10 or 11 hours to catch up on some Zzzs
On the bright side, we have a month-long break in December and nearly three months in the summer, so all this is temporary.... it's a little sad that summer's gone but winter break is nice, too :) and it's only a few months away.
Look forward to the new fics! I'm in NYC now - also adjusting to the city, but in a very different way, I imagine! It would great to have coffee some time if you're still keen. You can get me at thinlysliced at gmail.
