Why, yes, the icon still fits...what's it to you?

It's been a whirlwind month, what with ending the old job, starting the new job, starting to learn the ins and outs of teaching, family illnesses (nothing major, just the odd stomach and/or cold bug that seems to float through the primary schools everywhere), and the general letdown after the holidays are over, and you're left with two more months ( Read more... )

Bwwwwwwaaaawwww

I rather like Option 2

I wouldn't hesitate to submit "Grace" FWIW. The only thing keeping me from reccing it right now on Know It Alls is that I don't want to be first up with the Exchange recs. I feel like I rec too much SS/HG compared to others and people will get sick of me;-) So I'd been hoping someone else will get to them then I could second or fill gaps.

I understand you feel it has a flaw, but sometimes it's best to just live with it and keep things in mind for the next story if you just don't find a fix that clicks. There are things in my story "Janus" I don't think ever quite worked--it's not perfect. Few stories are, even that by pros.

If you feel it's just that you're too busy and the fix is still germanating, I could understand leaving be right now, but I wouldn't hesitate to submit it even if you never revise it--it's a very lovely story as is, as you know one of my favorites on a *very* strong Exchange.

Makes you want to venture down to Arkansas in a couple of months, doesn't it? Just to see which option I've decided on. I hadn't thought of the fourth option until yesterday, when I had a student ask if there was anything she could do for bonus points after failing an exam. I was sorely tempted to hand her my house keys.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards trying to submit it as is. My fix needs to come in the last bit, so maybe while I'm waiting for the first two chapters to come up in the queue, something will hit me.

I think I just need a few comments here and there; maybe another small conversation with McGonagall before Snape awakens in the infirmary that might tie up some loose ends, but I can't think of how to do that properly right now.

I don't want to continue it or write an epilogue, just because of that quick glimpse of the future (why? why not?) I already gave. I know they have their happy ever after ending. Eventually. Fill in the blanks however you like. :D

Option 6 - ask husband to bring in the boxes, and get him to take it down...

Lovely thought, but we've always split the responsibilities evenly, with him doing the outside lights, and me handling the inside tree. He's actually taken care of his part of the post-holiday cleanup, it's me that the slacker.

I'm not sure what house I would sort into, but I suspect that it would take more Slytherin cunning than I possess to convince him to do this too.

I'm sure I'm a Hufflepuff. Bleah.

Nothing wrong with being a Hufflepuff... ;-)

True. On the other hand, a real Slytherin would have convinced the husband to put away the tree, and would be humming happily while watching the eager students clean the kitchen and prepare the evening meal.

*Glomps you*

Cripes, girl, I've missed you!

That happened to my mom one year at work. When February rolled around and the tree was still up at the office, they decided to make it a holiday tree. They all had fun redecorating it for the various holidays throughout the year. :D

But I have to ask myself if I have the energy to make hearts, then clovers, then bunnies.... Might be easier to take it down. I'm still debating. :D

Option 3: Pull a few ornaments off the tree, and replace them with hearts. Call it a Valentine's tree.

I like that option. Plus, you'd avoid that naked look that the room gets after you take down the Christmas stuff.

True. It saves me the trouble of putting the tree back up again in December, too. :D

I'm with SL on this one. Keep it up all year, and change the ornaments to fit the nearest holiday!

My artistic 5 year old superdiva would love to have something to decorate all year long. Although I suspect that it would still earn me a spot on the "crazy old lady" list by leaving the tree up all year. :D
