SO GUESS WHAT. Today I handed in the first paper that I've written in FOUR AND A HALF YEARS. It wasn't even a big deal paper, but I definitely had a few freak out moments wherein I realized that I had literally forgotten how one writes a paper. But I think it turned out okay, and now I never have to look at it again, so that's all good ( Read more... )

Does your program offer any funding for conferences? The rule for that varies hugely from program to program but it might be worth looking into if you haven't.

Yeah, there's some, but I think it might be too late to apply for this conference. Mostly, though, I need to decide if I'm even up for conferencing this week. XD

Well, if you miss the Pumpkin Fest this weekend, there will be lots of others over the next month. We are serious about our fall celebrations out here, for sure. Hay rides, corn mazes, pumpkin head people, pumpkin cannons, cider and donuts, petting zoos, fall veggies for sale... This is why fall is the best! :D

I'd say go to the pumpkin fest. It's too easy to get burned out and you won't be in Cooperstown for many Halloweens, but you'll be in the museum field for a looooong time. Also it sounds WAY MORE AWESOME than any conference.

Ahaha, yeah, as is probably clear, that's what I've decided to do at this point. I have the rest of my career to go to conferences; pumpkin fest is special. *g*
