The Rain Forest

Hello, everyone!  Another wonderful excursion yesterday!  I went on an aerial tram in the rainforest next to the Braulio Carrillo National Park.  I am not really “nature girl” by any stretch of the imagination, but I was awed by everything I saw.

When we arrived, they weeded out those of us who spoke English and had us watch a short ( Read more... )

Ewwww, at the bug. Remember what I said....those type of bugs can't be stepped on. You have it smack them down. Then, while they're knocked out, put them in a puddle or somthing so they drown. And that one is definately big enough to sink.

I didn't even know that you could knock a bug out until I did it to a big fly. I was trying to get it with a magazine or something. Eventually i did and it fell on the ground. It looked dead to me. When I came back with a paper towel to get it, it started flying around again. That's how I knew.

Nikki,

Your descriptions are hilarious! It sounds like you are really enjoying this trip. And the pictures aren't too shabby either! These are experiences you'll remember for the rest of your life. But can you imagine House in a rainforest?

He'd be miserable. I'm pretty sure he hurts more in the rain. Or...maybe not. The problem isn't in his joints but in his muscles. Sigh...nursing school seems so far away when I try to remember stuff. But I think the rain would suit his disposition. It might balance out the beautiful scenery and generally friendly people. Although HE wouldn't get frustrated because of not understanding the language!!

Nikki, I'm so glad I ran into you on the Fox forum! I just read through your whole journal. What an amazing trip!! You could write a real travelogue - I feel like I was there. We had the same Cow thing in NYC a few years back, and I actually tracked most of them down. Interesting to see how the different locales come up with different decorations. My favorite of yours is the cow on the zip line!

Your rain forest pictures are gorgeous - great photojournalism. (Very evocative - I feel all hot and sticky :-))

It was interesting to learn the word for "lazy" in Spanish. I studied French for many years, and one of my professor in college always called me "parreseuse". Guess what that means ;-)

I posted to you on the forum that I'm leaving on a motorcycle trip to Canadian Maritimes at the end of the week - minus a computer - so I won't be able to keep up with your adventures, but I'll look forward to more when I get back.
