A short little amusing moment in my Genuis!Ryan universe. Ryan is already part of AR-5 on Atlantis, and the Warehouse 13 team is there to collect a recently discovered Artifact that accidentally was brought along by a new arrival to the expedition. And then AR-5 Returns from one of their usual types of missions...
Warehouse Seeking: Atlantis
"This is awesome," Claudia said as she, Pete, Myka, and Jinx were led back to the gateroom after their tour of Atlantis. "Even without the whole literal Alien Artifact to recover part? This would be awesome."
"I'm glad you think so, Ms. Donovan," Weir said with a smile. She was about to continue when an alarm sounded.
"Unscheduled offworld activation," rang out from the consoles, and the little group moved to the railing as the wormhole burst from the gate. "AR-5's IDC." A moment later two figures came through supporting a third between them, with a fourth following close behind gun raised to provide cover.
Weir touched her radio as she headed for the stairs. "Carson, get down to the gateroom, AR-5 just came in hot. Laura's fine, but Atwood's hit."
Claudia went pale when she heard the last name and moved to follow Weir, sure that it wasn't just any Atwood, it was her Atwood. Sure enough, when she reached the small group, it was Ryan laying on the ground, blood pouring from a wound in his shoulder. She opened her mouth to ask if he was okay, but instead blurted out something else. "Are you incapable of going anywhere without getting hurt?!"
Ryan blinked up at her, brows furrowed for a moment before his face relaxed into a tight grin, marred by pain. "Thought you knew me better than that, Donovan. I can't go a week without needing medical care."
"There goes you're theory that it's all the fault of Eureka's Brilliant Idiots," Claudia declared as she knelt down beside him. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"My team wants me dead," Ryan said with a laugh, though it turned into a cough and a groan.
"You two know each other?" Weir asked, glancing between them as the rest of the Warehouse team joined them.
"You could say that," Myka said.
"Donovan's my ex-wife," Ryan said. "Vegas, you know?"
Claudia grinned, though her eyes were watery. "And then... circumstances."
"That's one way to put it," Ryan said. "Good to see you," he added.
"Wish I could say the same," Claudia said, gesturing at his shoulder.
"Hey, at least I didn't wreck a motorcycle again," Ryan said.
"I don't want to know," Carson commented as he arrived.
"It seems Doctor Atwood knows our visitors," Weir offered.
"Oh?" Carson said, glancing up before starting to peel back the fabric and check the wound.
"Visitors? Plural?" Ryan said, blinking again and focusing over Claudia's shoulder at the others. "Pete, Myka, hey," he said. "Keeping Claudia out of trouble?"
"Better than these people seem to be doing with you," Pete said, an edge to his voice as he shot a glare at the rest of AR-5.
"Not their fault," Ryan said.
"The local chief's son thought Ryan was attractive," Leeri explained. "He did not take the rejection of his advances well, despite Ryan's politeness."
Claudia snickered. "Everyone always thinks you're cute," she told Ryan.
"We're gonna have a little talk about you leaving out silly little details like an ex-wife," Cadman said. "Lt. Laura Cadman, US Marine Corps," she introduced herself.
"Hey, I'm a Marine, too," Pete said. "Not active duty, but... Pete Lattimer. And that's Myka Bering, ex-Secret Service."
"And the lovely ex-wfe?" Lorne asked, amused.
"Claudia Donovan, ex-mental patient," Claudia replied with a grin. "But then, I'd have to be to marry him," she added.
"Nice, pick on the guy who was shot," Ryan protested with a smile.
"Major Evan Lorne and Leeri Ackora," Lorne introduced the rest of the team.
"The important thing is," Cadman began, looking at the Warehouse Team. "What will it take to bribe you into giving us lots of juicy Ryan stories to use as blackmail material?"
Claudia grinned. "No bribe necessary, I'm happy to spill all the embarrassing stories I know."
The End
