You know, I've never seriously watched Supernatural beyond some episodes far and in between ... but I liked this vignette :) Also the way you wrote Caleb was so great, it's palable that he has aged considerably since he lost his daughter and he acts even more gruffly than before.

Caleb is very much a broken man in this... and yet, notice how he did take Ryan in, give Ryan a place to live. He could have just let Ryan get tossed back into the foster care system, legally he had no responsibility to Ryan, and on top of that Ryan's considered a suspect in the fire, but instead Caleb realizes that Ryan wouldn't hurt the Cohens, and that Ryan needs more than a random foster home could give him...

I really do wanna explore a non-crossover universe with that premise... something happens to the Cohens, and Ryan winds up living with Caleb... I've always had an interest in exploring the how their relationship could twist and turn... lol

You already have so many things on your plate ... but you're right about this being an interesting premise that could turn into a full blown story. My primary question would be how Caleb would learn to accept Ryan without anybody to run interference. The roles of Sandy as Ryan's greatest and probably most vocal support system, Kirsten as a slowly simmering volcano that might just erupt under too much pressur and Seth as his brother-like best friend would not be filled at all.

Even if it was only talk and suspicion, I don't believe that this would have been helpful in Caleb's view on Ryan.

I wanted to get pulled sideways into an exploration of Caleb and Ryan being forced into being family because something happened to the Cohens... yes, it's fascinating...thinks back to a missed opportunity, where played with this some but not enough...will be hoping you go there

I think I probably will write some more one-shots based in this universe of Ryan and Dean being partners in hunting...

Oh,I'd love a fiction about Caleb and Ryan being forced into becoming a family. Please write it. Sorry to go off and not mention this story (which is fun and thank you) but Caleb/Ryan! That would be great. Please think about writing it.
