Racefail: now by e-mail!

OK, still no promised catch-up post, but multiple posts in one day nonetheless. Because I just have to rant about this:

An otherwise relatively sane and reasonable (to my knowledge, anyway) acquaintance just sent me an e-mail forward, the least annoying aspect of which was that it was completely untrue and had already been debunked on Snopes.com

Finally, let me just say that I'm kind of disappointed that the rumour isn't true, because I actually think that "O Canada" would sound awesome in Hindi. Especially if they did it up Bollywood-style.

Hell, why not? There are already versions in Inuktitut and Cree. :D The more, the merrier, I say!

Wow, I've been lucky to be spared of that type of mail for a long time. The last time I got one, I reply-all'ed right back to the entire list with a terse comment and a link to a very thorough Snopes article :)

Actually now that I think about it, I have to deal with "virus alert" chain letters with some frequency at work. Some have been circulating unaltered since the 90's, they just replace the virus name with a more recent one.

It wasn't just the fact that it was an annoying e-mail forward that could have been prevented with a quick Snopes search, though I am usually the one that replies to those things with said link - this one was just far more aggravating on multiple levels.
