i think that some of the classes/activities that they have for kids these days are so cool! if i had the time i'd want to bring E for more. but i think there's a difference between pushing them for things just for the sake of it, and signing them up for say swimming classes cos they love swimming, know what i mean?

my mother said to my sister- work out what you think are important skills that you want your kid to acquire. if you think reading and writing are the most important- the by all means send him to all the classes you want. but if you think that socialising with other kids or sharing his toys is important, send him to day care for half a day 2-3 times a week so he can meet other little people. if you want him to be sporty, then take him swimming etc.
My mother also did say- give him a bit of a childhood. Learning is life-long, and it's going to be pretty intensive when he starts school properly. :) and kids learn everything and anything, even when they are not in class as evidence by my nephew's quick adoption of words like 'hell' and 'damn' *sigh*

oh, as for learning to speak at 1.5 years, i started speaking at 6 months. :P my mother said- i knew who to pander to. my first words were 'gong gong' hahahah
