Italy isn't that close - it's a 3-hour plane journey away! But relatively, it's much closer than New York of course.

Reminds me of my favourite way of showing the difference between America and Britain. In Britain 100 miles is a long way. In America 100 years is a long time.

Having the ocean in between us and the rest of Europe makes it feel about as far away as the US sometimes. Well, not France, that's only a ferry ride away. But to get to Italy you have to go right the way THROUGH France and out the other side. That means it's Far Away. In 2008 we went by train London - Paris - Venice - Florence. That was a long way. But very cool.

That is a good plan, because when you come, we will both have teenage daughters and then we could send them to Century 21 while we have drinks.
