You have to always, ALWAYS be your own best advocate if you don't have someone there for you (and Alex is forever the besterest husband and father EVAR for keeping things together at home for you). Ask questions, be insistent, and never ever be afraid to make a spectacle of yourself when you're not being listened to, understood, and treated appropriately.

And your cousin's a git.

I'm glad you asked for the scan. I hope you recover soon and that it is not serious and has been handled.

I remember when I went to the emergency room to get an IV of fluids because I was dehydrated being told that I couldn't possibly need them because I was able to shed a tear which meant that I wasn't dehydrated because truly dehydrated people can't cry. Oh, and that my genital lesions meant I had herpes and there was something joeyhemlock wasn't telling me. I was scared out of my mind and it turned out that I had Behcets, but whatever, ER nurses, you awful creatures you. I think it's because they see both the best and worst of humanity and they're sapped of all caring all the time. Plus, their job is triage, so the simplest solution is usually the answer. Give her some pain meds, put her on the bus, send her home.

I am SO GLAD you got that scan and it got out of you and I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything else will work out with the bloodwork and the indicators and the like.

Also, your cousin is mental. Ugh.

Good god.

It always annoys me that when I, say, treat a fever in myself or Kidlet, then go to the doctor, they're always like "well, the thing is, you just don't have a FEVER." Like suddenly the illness is dubious. And you want to shake them--look, I HAD a fever, I'm sorry I'm not presenting with one right now but we have these AMAZING PILLS NOW YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD OF CALLED IBUPROFIN...

What happened to you is about the worst example of that I've ever seen--and THEY'RE the ones who gave you the pain relief!!

Glad to hear things are all looking ok. It sucks when you're going through something tough and then someone else has to make things even rougher for you. Take care!
