[Sam's voice carries a sharp edge of strain.]

Dean? Bobby? Ellen?

Damn it. This is definitely not Wyoming...

Anyone want to give me some idea where we are? Or what's going on here? What did that guy mean, drafted? To fight what, exactly? And how, without any weapons?

More importantly, how do we get out of here?

I don't want to do this ( Read more... )

We're in Econtra. Or Neocontra. A lot of people use the two interchangeably. Neocontra's been used since we moved here from the old complex about three months ago or so. And we're drafted to fight the Entropi, life-sucking balls of lightning. That's a very summed up version. There's a lot more detail involved, of course.

And as far as any of us know, there is no way out, though you may get randomly sent home or away or at least out of here. You never know.

The name's Otogi Ryuuji. Call me Otogi.

They could wind up here too. Never take anything for granted around here.

No, and even if they did, that's not permitted around here. Some damage can be done to people, of varying degrees, but outright killing is not allowed. THe cuff you're wearing...that we all wear...prevents it.

Won't help. Not if you're right about this being another world. Sounds crazy just saying it...

I'd wondered what that thing was for. So that's how they keep the peace, huh?

Oh, I'm right. You'll see it for yourself sooner or later.

Yeah. There's still some things it allows, but there are limits.

All the more reason to find a way out.

What sort of things?

There have been abductions around here before, and at least one case of brainwashing that lasted for about a month.

This place sounds charming already.

You have no idea. Wait until some holiday comes up. Though I think we're fresh out of really good ones for a while...oh, wait...next one's...Halloween...

Not again...

Can't be as bad as some of the things...

...What happens on Hallowe'en?

It's not what happens, it's what happened last year. A lot of people got costumes or changed into things, and a lot of times, you would start to act like your costume.

I'm guessing you're not referring to people voluntarily playing the roles of their costumes.

Good guess.

Kidnapping, soul-sucking lightning monsters, and mind control for fun.

Anything else I should know about?

Don't be surprised at any kind of romantic relationship you see around here. I know of at least one threesome offhand and there's a little bit of everything else scattered about. If you've got any prejudices against that, dump them, fast.

You can also request some items from the Indigeo, but there are restrictions. For the most part, getting alcohol is tricky. Helps to know the right people for that.

Not a problem. As long as no one's getting hurt, I don't really care what someone else does behind closed doors. Not my problem.

...What about weapons? Research material?

Most weapons that could be used against someone here are dulled or made harmless somehow. Guns get rubber bullets. That kind of thing.

There's a library, but it doesn't have a great deal of personal history on this world in particular, as in the Entropi. Research...it would probably depend on what you were looking for.
