I'm currently attending the first Steampunk convention in the Bay Area. T'is fun ... great guests, so many costumes, wonderful performance by Abney Park. Some hotel newness and con understaffing and general first con weirdness, but overall: FUN. Looking forward to coming back next year.

The ooosband and I were supposed to go onto a floating death trap commercial airship with Abney Park, the Studio Foglio people, and others, but because of the weather ... no go. Le sigh.

Oh, the humanity!

(I'm sad that we didn't get to fly aboard the Zeppelin. But we will use the money for other things.)

Are they going to fly the Zeppelin some other time? Like maybe when the weather clears up? (Although that might be next year...)

Oh, the company will probably fly the airship at some point ... one hopes.

*shrug* But this was a special charter flight ...

Oh well - Maybe they will have another special charter flight when conditions are better and then give the people who planned to be on this flight first shot at reserving a space.

I was hoping you would write more about the Steampunk con itself. Are there pictures of you at the convention? What did you wear? What were some other interesting things you saw?

I went and picked up another copy of "Hard Times" so I could re-read it on my UK trip. I figured there's no better guide to how to survive our "Great Depression II: The Heretics".
