Toward the end of his hours, John's company reappeared, Rodney bored with shopping and Elizabeth looking far too relaxed about this whole situation. "So they seriously let you get away with teaching a class on food?" Rodney asked in a complaining tone as he flopped into a desk chair.
"Rodney, I thought we decided we weren't going to judge John's choices," Elizabeth chided, taking a seat with a smile for John despite the bare walls and lack of warmth to his workspace. If Rodney paid attention, he might have taken this and the broken state of the apartment as signs that John had yet to put down roots in this town.
"You mean, you decided," Rodney corrected, looking like he was about to start a rant before grabbing a plastic toy from the desk. "Oh hey, it's the F-15 from your desk at the mountain. I didn't think this was yours. Does Landry know you stole government property?"
"What Landry doesn't know won't hurt me," John replied, leaning back in his chair and swiveling a bit. "So, what'd you two think of town? Pretty quaint, right?" Somehow John didn't feel like broaching the subject of choices when he'd made a lot of bad ones since his return to Fandom.
Having been left to his own devices, Zekk... ended up going to see Jaina. So they currently had some codependency issues. They were getting better.
