It really was almost sad to see the uniform go. "Made some new friends, did some training... Nothing to write home about, though I did call home a few times." She kind of liked the downtime so far, though. "How was the mission?"

"Successful," he replied, shooting her a little eyebrow waggle as he tossed his socks in the bin and padded over to put his boots away in the closet. "Call anyone fun?"

"My mom says hi. Does she count?" she wondered. It was so weird that at the start of all this, she was really appreciating the way everything he put everything in its place. Shut up, she could still find this sort of thing cute.

Unzipping his flight suit with a whir of metal, John laughed. "Yes, your mom counts." The suit was clean, just worn for the debriefing, so it got hung up, leaving him in silly boxers and a white t-shirt. "You tell her where you were?"
