Azerbaijan Ambivalence

 Ok, so I haven't really said anything about the Eurovision. I dunno, I guess it didn't really set me off with excitement like I thought it would do.

And I think everyone else has the same problem too, as most of the blogs have actually gone a bit quiet. There seems a lot of indifference to the prospect of Azerbaijan winning.

I don't think I will be making any efforts to even look into going to Azerbaijan, the way they treat their people isn't cool in my books.

I didn't really enjoy this years as much... the past 2 years I felt like the winners earnt it and were pretty good (especially 2009, I LOVE Alex Rybak) but this years winner was just pants.

I never much liked Fairytale, but I know I thought at the time that this was something a lot of people could like.

If Azerbaijan had come up with Hard Rock Hallelujah, I think a lot more people would have been excited.

It's a difficult thing. Azerbaijan only joined the Eurovision in 2008. Does it resonate there? Many people criticise that most of their entries are American-style ballads or mid-tempo numbers. I think if their entry were distinctly Azeri or European at least it would have created a different reaction.
