Don't have high hopes for what's about to happen.

Well I've been topped off with dread as of yesterday. I got a text from the sister telling me about how the home doesn't just want Dad to get a psych eval, but they want him sent to a MH facility for a while. Looked up dementia in MedlinePlus. Paranoia and delusions aren't that common, but do occur with some types. They can also be caused by other health conditions and medications (including anti-anxiety meds.) Sounds like it is a good idea to have a psychiatrist evaluate him and review his meds. Inpatient might not be a bad idea if they have to adjust medications, so he is under the care of professionals who know what to watch for with psychiatric meds.

I have a friend with depression who says he finds his trips to inpatient psych wards to relieve stress because no one thinks you are being weird if you don't have the energy to get dressed, if you just stare into space all day, or if you burst into tears at random intervals. The ones he has been in have been very nice with decent food, pleasant staff, and private rooms. When you feel up to it there are lots of easy activities like jigsaws and simple arts and crafts.

I just looked it up and I wonder if it is his anemia causing it? It is something that can happen.

If Sis does have to resort to taking him somewhere, I really hope they can get some improvement for him. He wasn't feeling physically well at all today and slept a lot and lately he does seem to be fading. Poor old dude

Aieee. Wishing all the best for all of you. I'd rather face what we're facing than dementia.
