I'm kind of ridiculously hopped up on champagne right now due to my mum and I having our own little all-night inauguration bash ("all-night" as we watched the festivities live, originally on Good Morning America and then from a CBS news feed - actual inauguration was 4am our time). One of my friends posted my favorite part: "For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus - and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace."

ABSOLUTELY THRILLED. Heeee! I love all the international support of the Obamarama.

OMG yes! I was going to say that I LOVED his mention of non-believers. Tat was so amazing of him, even if it was just an afterthought. The whole thing was just incredible and that whole bit was amazing.

I love all the international support of the Obamarama.
Haha! Actually the reason we stayed up was that our networks don't have any plans to repeat the inauguration beyond snippts on the news, so I figured the only way to see the speech unedited was to stay up and watch the whole thing. One our channels had a feed of CBS news so we watched that in HD. Legendary!

I thought it was fabulous! I watched it with my mom too and I think I'll always remember the feeling that went through me when he stepped out. (Also, Yo Yo Ma FTW!)

I think that the other guy screwed up and he wanted to correct the guy, but decided to just roll with it.
