Remember all the talk about Tim Burton's crazy Superman movie with the Kevin Smith script (giant spiders and polar bears!) and the electric suit? Well if you've ever wanted to see what that crazy suit would look like, here's your chance.
For real? Someone actually thought that would be an acceptable idea? Why would SUPERMAN need a glow-in-the-dark outfit? Why is he wearing a chrome rim on his chest?! -- actual questions that ran through my mind as I clicked through the slideshow.
From what I've heard, the movie was supposed to take place after 'The Death of Superman' and was based a bit on the Superman Red/Blue idea that was going on in the comics in the late 90's.
Do you what's sad? Have you ever read Kevin Smith's script? It was decent. His ideas for the movie were good. As crude as Kevin Smith can be sometimes....he has a reverance for Superman. Ironically, he wrote some BEAUTIFUL stuff for Clark and Lois. Stuff that you wouldn't expect to come out of the mouth of Kevin Smith. But he wrote a decent Superman script where Clark was a true hero and he wrote a beautiful modern love story for Clark and Lois with Lois in the know. I would have watched that movie. It was a missed opportunity.
The idea of Nic Cage as Superman is so wrong on so many levels that I don't even know where to start.
I've read it and I really did like it, L-Ron not withstanding.
But I just can't imagine Nic Cage reading Kevin's lines which just totally ruins any potential the script had. I mean, is it even possible for him to sound happy and upbeat?
Well, according to Kevin Smith...Nic Cage was not attached to the project when he wrote his script. No one was. Nic Cage was, I believe, brought on when Tim Burton came on board. And it was obviously Tim Burton that got rid of Smith's script. So I can read Smith's script and picture a more classic Superman actor--as I imagine that is who Smith was picturing when he wrote it. You know?
