Dear CBS,

Recycling is nominally supposed to be good for the environment. Not so much for serialized television.

NCISes

Froth should not be asked to support anything weighty. I've never heard that before and hotdamn does it sum things up into a nutshell. Nice.

I don't watch The Mentalist, but you are right on with your assessment of the other shows.

They're going to break Tony's heart again on NCIS, and I think I hate them for that!

Yeah, they are. Unless EJ turns out to be doing extra double secret spy work for the good guys.

My theory on the CM finale:

(Writers are trying to come up with an actual decent story.)
Writer #1: You know, it doesn't matter what we do- they're just going to spend the summer trying to figure out who's on next season.
Writer #2: Crap, you're right. Screw it. Let's bang this thing out and go get tacos.

I don't watch most of these because they make The Husband gag with their preposterousness. (I asked him how his NCIS agent friends feel about the show. He said that they say that it's nice to get attention from the public, but they wish the source of the attention at least tried to be realistic. Hubby's just happy his agency said no when the producers came to them first.)

However, I do watch The Mentalist which The Husband loves. :) I think it's because Jane is his kind of interrogator, sneaky! (Husband and Co. once rigged up a copier to produce sheets that said "Yes" and "No," and told a suspect it was a newfangled lie detector. :) ) If it weren't for Jane though, I don't think we'd watch it. It's just his character that raises it a notch above all of the other adequately-done LE procedural shows.

My favorite 'copier as lie detector' scene on TV remains Homicide: Life on the Streets' version.

Hah! I didn't realize they'd done that. They must have stolen that from whatever agency my husband stole that from. :) (I think this trick actually originated in an FBI office somewhere, but I'm not sure.)

They did okay with Hollis and with Coast Guard Abby and even with that madam who's appeared a couple of times. It's just everyone else. *wry*
