stuff about stuff

* My hockey team lives another day. Depending on tonight's Montreal-Toronto game, tomorrow could be a death match -- any kind of win and they're off to DC for a rematch of last year's agonizing playoff round; any kind of loss and they go golfing and I go cry in my soup. (Which will probably be leek soup, just for the record.) If Toronto manages to ( Read more... )

Heh. Rena Sofer also played the sorta-love-interest-no-one-cared-about on 24, and will be playing a potential love interest for Booth on Bones.

Is she typecast or what?

She's a pretty woman, but that voice...

Thank you for the Criminal Minds analysis! I don't watch any of those other CBS shows and thoroughly put off by that hideous episode. It actually made me dislike Forest Whittaker, which is a difficult trick! If that's their normal MO for starting a new show, though, I will do my best to forget my bad impressions and start with a fresh slate next season.

I doubt it's actually a network mandate, but they probably were encouraged to use what had worked before. Which... didn't really work as an hour of drama, but got the pilot greenlit.

Totally forget about this except as a preview of what the faces are likely to look like; there will probably be at least one character change during pilot season, so everything will be different anyway.

I disliked every scene Rena Sofer was in and wondered why they thought it was a good idea to cast her for that role because, no. I agree with you re: Holly Snow, she had more chemistry and character than Rena's trying too hard lawyer.

BTW, did we ever get resolution on Hollis Mann? I loved her out of all Gibbs' love interests and was sad when she no longer made an appearance.

We found out from a pan to a page of Stars and Stripes that Hollis retired and moved to Hawaii; she never got a proper farewell scene with Gibbs.

So we never really got an on screen resolution?:( That's sad, I really loved her in NCIS.

I loved Rena Sofer on Chronicle, so I really, really wanted to like her character, but I just... cannot do it. She drives me nuts.

And using Ducky as the decoy would have been AWESOME.

She drove everyone nuts, but I don't know if everyone also equals the test audience or whatever they use to judge whether to bring her back.

I'm with you on Rena Sofer. She is one of the most irritating characters I've had to endure in a long while. Holly Snow, on the other hand, rocks.

As for Criminal Minds--I agree with a good deal of your analysis, but I hate the Cooper character, which does not bode well for the enjoyment of any sequel. Actually, about the only character I liked was the Brit...and considering the believability problems with said character, that makes it even more problematic.

Honestly, I don't think the Cooper character did much of anything to like or dislike, let alone hate. He wasn't that pushy, he wasn't that noble, and he acted like a much watered down version of Gideon. *shrugs*
