What is it with chicks and motorbikes??

Apr 22, 2008 22:14

I was meant to catch up with a friend on Saturday if she didn't make it out to The Golden Slipper race carnival ... we were waiting on an inclement weather report.

I didn't hear from her so I assumed that either;

a) she had a big night out seeing Supersuckers the night before or ( Read more... )

I show the utmost respect to bike riders.

My family are bike people, afterall.. Although it shits me to tears when bikers whine about damage done to fairings by a cars mirrors.. stop lane splitting then kthnx, jerks..

I haven't heard any of my friends whinge about that so I can't comment - and I am more than aware that it is a two way street but still ... the odds are stacked against them and they tend to get very broken :(

It's a risk they take I know, but when confronted by an agro driver (who was in the wrong) about the damage to his car when someones bone is poking out of their leg??

Arsehole.

yeh, that's total Ass. I don't drive much, but a few nights ago (well, dusk), I had a bike rider just merge straight on in front of me. Like he nearly clipped my car. Very bad thing to do around a learner :$

She is fucking amazing. Would 'thwack' but her back has no skin on it either :(

Best time to do it then :P

She is indeed amazing :-) Even a small accident on a bike can cause a lot of damage.

I know we don't have a bike at the moment, but I know we'll be getting another one. This post has made me physically ill.

I'm so sorry for your friends.

And I probably shouldn't be saying this here, but I hope it never happens to me...

*healing thoughts to both of them and their partners*

Thanks hon :) miss_porcelain April 23 2008, 10:12:28 UTC
Fortunately they are two of the strongest women I know but something like this leaves a permanent mark - both physically and mentally.

Shell's partner escaped with 3 scratches on his shin and will spend the next few weeks looking after her - they don't live together as the relationship is only 4-5 months old so this will be an interesting turn of events for both of them :)

flamingo_1210 was on the back of friends bike and he is still recuperating from more minor injuries after 8 months :(

It's a tough one. I remember the exhilaration from my early years as a Ducati pillion - but it only took one accident to put the fear in me. I got back on a few months later but I was completely terrified and the joy was gone for me.

My friends are the sort of people to jump straight back on though :)

I am so please to know that Shell will be OK and that the injuries she sustained are repairable.
It's hard to know what to say at the moment because I have such a hard time dealing with hearing about someone that I know being injured in a bike accident. To say it brings back memories for me is a bit of an understatement.
Regardless of type of vehicle that you drive or ride please remember that a lack of care and attention could change or end someones life forever, including your own.
Take care my love, talk to you soon
Sarah

*hugs you*

(ok, that felt weird!)

Thanks for the comment and call love - I just passed on your message to Shell. She is just now realising how long 6 weeks will be and is bored already (can you imagine her holed up for more than 3 days? I can't!)

I told her to step away from the online ordering that she seems to have embraced :D

I knew it would bring back memories for you and I am sorry if they were unwelcome but the new you is all about helping others remember? And don't you rock even more for that? :)

Love you!

She's doing ok. Leg is taking longer to heal than anticipated (it was a seriously BAD compound fracture)

She is back at work part time this week but I think the company sponsored taxi bill will bite - she is recuperating at her BF's place out west :D

She has calmed down a lot over the past 6 months ... I guess true love was bound to bite her eventually :)
