I'm on the ceiling help me down

Feeling rather low tonight. Realising (once again) that my life isn't turning out how I'd hoped, I'm 26, I live at home and I have no job. I wanted more for myself. It's not like it's my fault, the world isn't always kind and with the financial problems of the world that doesn't help in finding a job. It feels like I'm waiting for a job, then ( Read more... )

*hugs tightly*

As for your meme, I found one for you! :D

Fic: Rabbit Will Run

"One small jump as though on a trampoline, or when she tried to climb out of the dining room window aged seven. But the drop was so much bigger, the consequence so much higher.

There was just no other option."

Ooh that's one of my favourite bits I've done, actually. The whole story, so thank you!

And for the hugs too!

*hugs* Can relate with the job thing. It's definitely worse not hearing back at all than getting rejections. I'm just glad I have uni to fall back on for now. I'm aiming to have at least something part time by the time I'm done with uni, though, so here's hoping for both of us..

Yeah, it's not easy. Most people come out of uni thinking year jobs, woo, but the reality isn't anything like that. A lot of people are forced to do just part time work, which isn't enough when people want to live on their own/with friends, etc.

I can totally understand you about finding life generally depressing, especially as far as the lack of a job is concerned. I send you a hug, hoping it might help somehow.

As for the meme, here's my favorite quote from "Mistletoe and Whine" (that's a lovely title, by the way). I have to say you write Jane/Lisbon very well, no matter if they might not be your favorite pairing. And the sentence I've highlighted in bold characters is so like Jane that it makes me want to laugh!

Lisbon tried to maintain her dignity, but the very idea that Jane was proposing they start their relationship after getting married first was preposterous. She tried to contain her laughter which only caused it to come out something akin to the noise a pig would make, which caused her to laugh a little harder ( ... )

Thank you, I'm not sure anything will help really. But hugs are appreciated, especially as you understand all too well what it's like. :)

And thanks, I like that line especially too, it made me laugh. If it's okay to laugh at my own writing, haha.

We're actually laughing at Jane, so I think that's perfectly fine. ;)

I swear I could have written this myself.

I'll be 26 in like 2 weeks and I'm in the exact same boat. After all the hard work I've put in over the years, this is not where I expected to be. Living at home, unemployed and being a complete waste of space.

I hate this economy. I hate how businesses value "skills". No one is hiring recent grads - only people with years of experience. Its exhausting. I cant even count the number of jobs I've applied to and I've never even gotten an interview.

Siiigh.

We can take comfort in knowing that we're not alone.

But I'm getting tired of waiting for my life to start.
