Au Pair or not Au Pair...and yay OUAT fans!

Firstly, Once Upon a Time fans are amazing right now. Yesterday I posted all of the voting polls for the first outies and within minutes of the first handful going up I had 8 votes. Then by the morning it had reached about 400 votes...and since 'reading' of those messages in my inbox I've had another 150 or so. I'm overwhelmed with how many people have ( Read more... )

I think you would really enjoy that! And though I'm sure you're aware, make sure you're well-funded - travel is def. not cheap, even just within the US.

Would you be doing an au pair of the employment variety? Not really sure how that stuff works tbh. Would you be able to do cross-country traveling?

My state is not the most exciting, but we do share a border with Washington DC and have our own bay + ocean access on the shore side.

Oooh, which side are you? I've been to Maryland and I've stood in Virginia, lol...need to go there properly.

I'd be going through an agency who match you up with a family and yes it would be paid. Not a huuuuge amount because of accommodation/food being free but a decent enough amount as long as I don't spend it all on stupid things, lol.

I will get some weekends off so I can explore the areas nearby where I stay, then 2 weeks off when I could do some proper travelling. I will also get a month at the end where I can travel as much as possible! I'll be ale to drive so I may rent a car or something and drive across country. Or pay to do Trek Americas month long trip, it takes you alllllll over!!! Costs a bit, but it would be worth it to see loads of the country!

Maryland. :) Though I've been to Virginia lots of times! More than I've been to DC, which is hardly at all...

Oh see, that sounds lovely! I think you should definitely give it a shot! Getting paid and still having quite a bit of travel time sounds perfect. :D

I would say come to my state but we're not exciting (we're just fat and violent. Go Michigan -_-)

I noticed I was nominated for an Ouatie...none for writing such saddens me greatly since I was the first person to post an OUAT fic in the entire fandom. Thats what I get for not having an active audience...*le sigh*

Ooh, the glove!!! Lol. I stays with a woman in 2009 who was from the bottom of the thumb, lol. She explained the glove stuff to me. That's awesome. I'd love to visit, the fact there are some big lakes around there is rather awesome.

And yes you did!!! Oh that's a shame...I can totally understand your frustration with that. :(

You should visit Arkansas because honestly, people tend to forget we exist. But, fun fact, the very first Walmart store was here in Arkansas, it was just called Walton's back in the day. So yeah, you can thank Arkansas for Bill Clinton & capitalism at it's finest basically; not sure if that's good or not.

But if you like nature, our state slogan is 'The Natural State'.
Plus, you could visit Hot Springs, which - surprise surprise - it a spa town & there are literally hot springs running underneath the town which power the bath houses.

Although, I live in Northwest Arkansas which means I live in the foothills of the Ozark mountains. Which basically means, the only stuff 'outdoor-ish' we do is either caving ( we have TONS of caves! ) or floating on the river. But yeah, if anything you should come to Northwest Arkansas cause we aren't too far away from Branson, Missouri which is a pretty neat town ( ... )

What a great opportunity! I wish I had done something like that before I got locked down into career mode. Of course, I probably would have gone to Europe! Funny how that works ( ... )

I'll have to say your comment here because I won't be able to go for a year. :(

Georgia sounds so good for that very reason having everything a few hours away, that's like the UK really, we have a bit of everything all close together!!! <3

I used to have a penpal from Atlanta, randomly. Her grade and mine (when I was about 9) were paired up by our teachers and we all got one each. :P
