I think you're right about Mini; she isn't incapable of love, far from it, in fact. It's just she's been so hurt by loving people in the past (Grace, though that's obviously a platonic love and of course, by someone who should be the most important man in her life: her father), that she just cannot allow herself to love because she's so scared of the hurt associated with it. She knows it can be beautiful and wonderful too, but she's not sure if it's worth the pain and misery associated. All rather understandable, I believe. And on top of that, the fact that her mum is moving a man in, when it's only been the two of them before, is like another betrayal. Mini sees it as her choosing to love a man instead of herself and that's like a stab in the heart, she's not of the age where she realises her mum can have both.

Yeah, definitely, I think she could be of the right age to realise that, but because of the pain she's gone through with her dad she hasn't built up the understanding the same. Had her parents spilt up when she was 12, for example, maybe she'd be a little more accustomed to the idea. It's hard when things in life change especially when so many things are changing at once, it's natural she's reacting the way she is!
