Extremely Loud (the film) & Archery

Feb 18, 2012 13:42

I've had a really busy week, for a change, something which doesn't normally occur in my life. I usually don't do very much, spend a lot of time at home and try to go cycling every few days. This week I've been cycling, I've been swimming, I've been doing archery and I've been to the cinema, which is quite a lot of stuff!

On Thursday I went swimming ( Read more... )

extremely loud & incredibly close, musings, swimming, archery

It seems like you just may have to be straightforward with your teacher and tell him you won't use extras, period. You're allowed to have your own opinions about how you want to be an archer and he should respect them. :)

I agree that I should be able to have my own opinions, but I don't know if he knows how to teach any other way. :( I don't feel like I need lessons really, but you have to have lessons before you can join. I was thinking of grinning and bearing it for the most part (it could be interesting to try the other equipment even if I don't like using it) and then when I finish those I can do what I want, lol. I'll see how tomorrow goes with him not being there! I'll probably have a chat with Dave too. I'm not very good at being assertive like that. :(

Oh I thought you were taking the lessons because you wanted to, not because that was how you could join. Best of luck, chica! :)

Well I am interested to learn more, I just wish it wasn't all about the extras I don't really want to use. I went down today though and had a go without the teacher there, which was awesome and relaxing.

WOW! I can't believe you swam so much, that's OUTSTANDING. I HATE swimming with a passion because (or perhaps as a result) I am RUBBISH at it. I'm very impressed

Thanks! I used to be really bad at swimming, in school I remember one length was tiring and whenever we had to swim more I'd hate it. I haven't swam properly in years - except for 2 months in the summer of 2009 when I did quite a bit. All my cycling is probably helping and last weeks has helped me to feel confident. I'm not the best swimmer, but it's weird because I realise now that I have more stamina than I thought - I used to have hardly any. :) Swim slowly-ish and it's not so bad. Though I was doing a length is about 1.5 minutes which isn't bad, well I don't think so. :P
