because Damon sacrificing himself for Stefan was always going to be a thing this show did. Always.

I love Damon but I can't say that his death really affected me, because everyone on this show has died and come back so many freaking times that it's kind of lost all effect. I suspect that Grams has somehow arranged for Bonnie to be protected/saved, so as long as Damon hangs with her, they'll both be okay.
Yeah, I didn't expect to be affected so much either for that exact reason - I'm sure he'll come back in some capacity - which is kind of why I found it surprising that I was so affected by it, lol. I kept telling myself 'this is definitely not permanent, come on, self' but I was still irrationally upset, haha.
I'm not even remotely worried about whether he'll come back/wasn't even before the ep aired when I was about 98% sure he was going to die more permanently somehow but it still weirdly upset me, ha.
