We are part of the sumptuous grand design

Today is our last full day in Zion; tomorrow morning we pack up and drive over to Bryce Canyon for a few days. So today, we buckled down and dove headfirst into The Narrows, the long stretch of the Virgin River between the northern part of Zion Canyon and the river's source.

Oh! I've been there! Both Bryce and Zion! Back when I was teenager, my uncle and I took a month and wandered all over Bryce, Zion and the Grand Canyon. Isn't it beautiful? I recommend both those parks over the Grand Canyon, honestly. So many more beautiful hiking trails, if you ask me.

I believe Bryce is where the...it's like this three tiered natural fountain formation, almost. I think that's in Bryce. Absolutely gorgeous - quite a bit of a hike up, but well worth it!

Niiiice. That sounds like an awesome way to spend a month!

We visited the North Rim of the Grand Canyon about 5 years ago, as part of a larger Southwest Circle Tour of Insanity, but we could only stay for a few days. And we drove through a bit of Zion in that trip too, and I thought it was beautiful, so I was happy to be able to come back this year.

The trouble with parks like Bryce and the Grand Canyon, where everything starts on top of the canyon, is that inevitably, if you go hiking, you're gonna have to climb back up at the end. And I'm a weenie. At least with Zion, the going up part takes p[lace right at the beginning, when you've got the most energy. XD

They sell Bryce Canyon postcards in the gift shop here; it looks amazing. I can't wait to see it for myself!
