Guess what I saw today? :DDDD If you haven't seen this movie yet, GO NOW.

I'd heard it was a good all-encompassing film. The ads made me wary, but I might just have to find a way to see this.

(I'd also heard that 300 was pretty mindless. Too bad; the filming looked gorgeous. :[)

Definitely worth seeing. If you're used to anime and the anime style of story-telling, there's a lot to enjoy there.

300 IS gorgeous. Absolutely visually stunning. And Gerard Butler has a very fine ass. Man-candy galore. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get past what I saw as rampant xenophobia enough to sit back and enjoy the ride. Not that the ancient Greeks weren't xenophobic -- they were. Hell, they invented it. But it's that xenophobia was presented as a good thing that bothered me. I mean, it's perhaps unfair to expect all movies to make great strides forward in the realms of feminism, anti-racism, gay rights, rights for the disabled, etc... but this movie felt like it was taking a couple big steps back, which really is what prevented me from enjoying it.
