Ahhhhh he has a name! And Dean was so BRILLIANT to have Cas choose. I'm so proud of him. Castiel's reasoning for picking Daniel was sweet, too. And now they're going to introduce Daniel to Ellen and Jo and I'm giggling evilly in delight at THAT conversation.
Dean's not as dumb as some people think ;) You just gotta love everything he's doing to try and get Castiel to feel some kind of attachment to the baby. He just wants one big happy family! :(
Yay, I got an email alert that there was an update--*does happy dance*! I love that the kid's name is Daniel, so sweet and adorable. I can't wait to see what Dean comes up with to make Cas care about keeping the baby safe. I love that Cas is trying--at the moment--because Daniel is an extension of Dean. It speaks volumes about where Cas' head is at. Yay, update soon.
I'm pleased as punch you guys like the name Daniel for this little guy. Naming characters has got to be the worst thing about being a writer. Sometimes, that's what stops me dead in my tracks when I'm working on a chapter!

yeah, I was sort of fearing a weird angel name too, ^^; U suppose Daniel is as good as any other, and after all, despite how much I like 'Destiel' it's really a mock name.
...unless.... from now on, I will tell people 'destiel' really mean 'God approves of gay love'
it was fun to imagine Michael's to do list, too 1) Get Dean to say 'yes' 2) clean sword 3) convince Gabriel to come back 4) prep heaven's choir for the trumpets of Judgement Day 5) Fire Zachariah 6) Send a hitman on Cas' baby ASAP
and so on... maybe even 'kill new nephillim' would go at #45 on the list! :)
Daniel has absolutely zero chance of turning out normal. Being mostly-angel aside, being raised by Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel, and Bobby Singer is going to make for one severely abnormal kid! ;) Stay tuned for Gabriel's reaction... Ahhhh, I'm so excited that presumably they're gonna meet up with Ellen and Jo. I really love Cas/TFW interacting with other people because it's so interesting and hilarious at once, and with a baby I expect those things'll get ratcheted up even more.
And Daniel was really a perfect choice for the bb name :3

Castiel looked over sharply at that. He probably thought the woman was prophesizing about the child’s future as a serial killer. So not what Castiel needed to get in his head about the baby that he was only starting to put up with.
Hahahaaa!! That was awesome! And very in character. I can totally see Castiel taking something like that literally.
I really enjoyed your description of the nephilim. I actually have a degree in theology and I'm going for another so I always learned that some of the nephilim (in some traditions anyway) were good people (Abraham, Moses, and many others were thought to be nephilim). So it was nice to see that articulated here even if the baby isn't actually one it was still nice to have the back ground. The fact that it was accurate just made me smile. :D

I always get a kick out of those moments when Castiel completely misunderstands the intent or meaning of humans because he takes their words literally. It’s adorable :) And so very, very the Cas we all know and love.
Gotta say, I’m relieved to hear that I got the nephilim ‘right’… I am very far from a religious scholar, but I did take the time to do a little research before I made any kind of bold statements about an established mythological race. Even if Daniel isn’t one, the topic would have to come up, seeing how he is so close to one.
Dean’s canon affinity for scifi warms my heart every time it crops up :)
