The lessons I took while in the mountains have proven to be the most effective lessons I've ever taken. It had me ballerina-dropping down a powdery black diamond at Marmot this year.
I'm sorry to hear you hurt yourself -- hot tubs are nice. (And the ski patrol doesn't mind giving people tows down if you haven't "actually" hurt yourself...)

I didn't want to bother the ski patrol, because it literally took me less than two minutes to get over to the base of the lift.... I saw a toboggan getting dragged to someone today though. (at least, I assume you don't tow toboggans down the mountain for fun...)

I realized over time that the going the direct and steep way really isn't as bad as it looks, at least when there's snow (if it's icy, it's hard). I think it's mostly psychological fear of the steep incline that makes it difficult.
