Supernatural fic: Close Your Eyes (episode tag for "Brother's Keeper")

Episode tag for s10e23: "Brother's Keeper." Based on the line that killed us all, and continuing with my experimentation with really long sentences. Gen, PG-13 for language. About 750 words, not beta'd.

Five times Sam refused to close his eyes, and one time he did. Sammy, close your eyes. I don't want to see my own reflection in your tears.

Oh gosh. This is really beautiful. It genuinely brought tears to my eyes. 'Close your eyes' is such a protective thing and I can see Dean trying to shield Sam from so much throughout his life (which you've given us snippets of) and then the juxtaposition with the scenario from the episode, close your eyes so I won't have to watch the life go out in them by my hand...just shattering.
I really liked Dean's inner monologue throughout and I liked the fact that he was half expecting God or angels to stay his hand and tell him he'd passed the test, because I was half expecting that to happen myself! Beautifully done. ♥

This is what I thought might happen, that Death would say "never mind, I just needed to see if you'd both go through with it."

Second-person is a tough sell but you did it! And I loved the Bradbury ref. Kinda meta, huh? Beautiful job!

When Dean said "Sammy, close your eyes" I knew there was so much backstory to those 4 words, and I love that you filled it out so effectively!
