Here we are, (We being Col. K and I) in lovely Coventry at the Ramada, enjoying WriterCon. This morning after an excellent breakfast we had talks on Music in fandom, Prompts and "The importance of Research" illustrated by some massive howlers! Coffee break came with hot pastries.

Oh Lobelia! You would have been truly welcome at WriterCon-an event for fans of all persuasions; the only entry requirement is that you are active in some fandom in some way- writer, artist, vidder, podcast crafter, or whatever. We were an intimate little gathering (just under 20) who met at the Ramada Coventry for an all-fan programme which included workshops on art, another on fan-poetry wherein we all re-wrote a faux Elizabethan sonnet in the style of one Edmund Blackadder...And we conducted a singalonganepisode of Buffy (Once More with Feeling)After dinner and quite a few drinkies so no one really noticed if it wasn't pitch perfect!

Remind me to come to next year's!! Are they always on at the same time? I certainly fulfill the minimum requirement... Should I sign up to the comm to keep up-to-date? It sounds so much fun! I always think these things happen in the States but here's one within arm's reach.

yes, yes and YES! We are considering moving the date for next years event as the pesky ol' Olympics are on. It will almost certainly be at the Ramada Coventry again as they have looked after us so well. Go sign up and see what we were all up to over the weekend!
