Delayed Weekend Update

Its unlike me to be tardy!

In brief.. Joel's birthday drinks at the Sheaf was pretty good to catch up with all those boys (and check out the plethora of patrons) and hang socially with some of the kids from work. Greatful for an early night but struggled walking (girl-running) up the road in some new heels. Yes - i was in heels! :-o

P.s Stevie remembered who I was! :-D

Had most of the cats @ Myer on Sunday pretty jealous that I was going to the Kanye West concert. I was a bit bummed on 2 things, basically someone promising me an awesome stage show and also the prospect that Common was going to be there (and even possibly De La Soul as they appeared at the Brisbane + NZ shows). The stage was a real basic set up (him, 2 backup singers, DJ and 6 [?] piece mini orchestra). No visual screens. No pyrotechnics. Not even fancy lights. But even after all that, I found the concert amazing! It probably helps that I dig both albums and he played all the good songs. Hi-lights were The New Workout Plan that mixed into Eurythmics Sweet Dreams.. opening with Diamonds from Sierra Leone (and also doing it again but only with the orchestra).. Gold Digger, Jesus Walks and Testify as the last song. He showcased snippets of production like Ludacris Stand Up.. and orchestra break down where the violin chick did Eleanor Rigby and Bittersweet Symphony. Not to mention his "old faves" where they did Al Green's Let's Stay Together (LOVE that song. *tear*), MJ's Rock With You and we all had to laugh - even though he said not to - when his DJ chucked on A-Ha's Take On Me and he danced to it. Think Molly Ringwald in The Breakfast Club dancing on that stair landing in the library. (Inthe80s.com tells me this move is called 'The Clone' - Haha!)

The crowd was quite mixed. AzN gAnGstErS meets the wannabe-elites meets under-18s (it was all ages) meets some old people and some other random people that really had no idea. Not that many real "brothers", which I think Caz found a bit disappointing. But the man himself.. wasn't very particularly "out there", but seemed quite modest and humble yet oozed confidence and really reprazented as a one-man show. I'm impressed. I'll hold my diamonds in the air 'coz I felt the vibe! I think he'll really turn it on for the Opera House show this weekend. *green eye* Oh, and I saw him on Rove.. and he really DID twist his ankle during the concert. And I thought we were all making him chugg alcohol for the sake of showmanship.
