Miroku hadn't been having been the best of luck lately when it came to women, which concerned him. This had never been a huge problem before... at least, it hadn't in the entire month that he had been old enough to drink. Reminding himself that he didn't have an early class the next day, he took another gulp of his beer and promised himself that this wouldn't become a habit.

He was surprised when an accented voice came out of nowhere and began talking to him. He wasn't above talking to strangers even in his current condition, so he quietly replied, "Hello. I'm Miroku. Sorry to hear that you're bored, but I'm afraid I can't do much to solve that right now."

The other guy didn't seem cheerful, and this was a problem. "It's nice to meet ye, Miroku. I'm wondering how ye can be down when ye have a drink in your hand. Surely that's a cheerful thing, that is? Life is better with a bevvie or two. Or four."

Jin studied Miroku for a moment. "I do think I might have seen ye on campus a couple of times, I do. Are ye the one that's always near the erotic books in the bookstore? Not like I'm back there often, of course not, but I think that's where I've spotted you, aye." He wasn't exactly looking for people when he was back there, which is likely why it took him a moment to recognize the other student.

Miroku was about to remark that Jin placed way too much stock in the euphoric effects of booze, but the comment died on his lips when Jin mentioned where he had seen him. Miroku looked at him carefully, though truth be told he woudn't have known if anyone had seen him flipping through those books; his eyes and mind were usually elsewhere.

"I work there," Miroku replied. Immediately realizing how much it sounded like a weak alibi, he laughed at himself and added, "So if you ever need a discount, let me know."

"A discount? That would be nice for when fall comes around and I have to be buying more books, that would." Jin smiled at the laugh. He was more than ready to excuse someone for being back in that section. "Sounds like a decent job, it does, so that can't be what has ye in the dumps. So what is it? Failing a course? Car dying? Woman problems? Money problems?"

His eyes sparkled with mischief. "I'm sure I could find a thing or two that could lift your spirits. There's always fun to be had, that there is, always a way to make a sorry situation into a good one. Let's knock ye out of a frown and into a smile, friend Miroku!"

After being done with some last-minute work at the theatre, Kagome had ran across campus to the library. She had a project due in her first class the following morning, and she needed to finalize the Powerpoint presentation with her group. Unfortunately, after waiting in the after-hours computer lab for about half an hour, it was clear that she was the only member of her group who remembered about the meeting. None of the others were on-line, and she didn't want a staff member yelling at her for using her cell. With a sigh, Kagome packed up her books and left the building.

Her first partner didn't answer his phone, and as she began ambling in the general direction of her dorm, she absently dialed the next person's number, thinking that there had to be a better way to spend her night.

"Tell me about it," Jin said, grinning. "I don't mind being hit on by guys, though, since I give all of them me roommates number, that I do. He hates me, but it's great fun, aye!"

Depending on what Kagome thought was a better way to spend her night, either an opportunity or a headache was headed in her direction. Catching sight of someone exiting the building, Jin smirked at Miroku. "I think I've spotted one of the bibliophiles, that I have."

"Heh," Miroku chuckled. "If you're ever in need of a roommate, remind me not to volunteer. Relationship problems follow me around enough."

He was about to go back to thinking about his consistently failed attempts with Sango, but Jin mentioned a possible witness. Jogging closer, he laughed, "Really? Let's see if I know the lucky victim."

He suddenly jolted to a stop. Oh man. Not her. Though he knew better, he couldn't help exclaiming, "K-Kagome!"

Kagome tilted her head upon hearing her name. Having known the voice since high school, she smiled and turned around, expecting to see Miroku with yet another girl under his wing as they headed back to the dorms.

Turning, it took Kagome a moment to figure out what she was seeing. Miroku... and another guy... naked... in public. Against her will, she realized that her eyes went downwards, as though to ascertain that they did indeed lack any clothing whatsoever. Upon realizing that this was the case, she dropped most of her books and gasped, feeling a blush rising to her cheeks.

She took her remaining notebook and put it in front of her face, as though blocking them from view. "Miroku," she cried out, "where are your clothes?!"
