The flight had been non-descript, better for having travelled first class rather than in coach. He had not wanted to tolerate screaming babies, and a full service bar was just a perk. Besides, it would not do to arrive in San Fancisco to meet so auspicious a personage as Naraku Onigumo having travelled in anything less than first class. This trip opened the pages to a whole new chapter of his life. Might as well begin it in style ( ... )

Naraku almost stopped the car the moment his eyes fell on Gin. Well now, he almost makes me feel underdressed. Considering that he almost always wore a black suit on his outings (and, on this night, had it accented with a silk burgundy shirt), that was a near impossibility.

Waiting until it was safe enough to veer towards the curb - more out of concern for his automobile than for the well-being of others - Naraku steered his car a few yards ahead of Gin and popped open his trunk. Getting out of the car, he then carefully leaned over its roof as he grinned at his friend.

“Gin Ichimaru,” he called out. “I was wondering when this town would find itself a bit of class.”

Upon spotting his friend Gin changed direction fluidly, gliding up to the car as if he'd known all along exactly were it would be, when, and with whom. One might get the impression that he was a man used to be chauffered around.

"Naraku Onigumo," he addressed his business partner with a grin that on the surface was friendly, as one might use to greet an old college chum, but underneath held secrets best discussed in back rooms late at night. "I'd begun to think that no one was coming to get me. I realize now that I really should have called ahead. I was afraid I would be abandoned and I really don't care for taxis."

He hefted his suitcase into the trunk with little effort which might seem strange for a man of his build. The dufflebag he made no move to store, keeping it slung on his shoulder, close to his body. He'd greased several palms to get it through security and he wasn't about to let it out of his sight now.

"Me classy? You always were such a flatterer."

Naraku watched Gin's movements carefully. Judging by the way he held onto his duffel bag, it was likely that little had changed. That was all for the better, as far as Naraku was concerned.

"Abandon? Me?" With a grin, he walked towards the trunk and brought it to a close as he mentioned, "I would either say that you don't know me very well, or that you know me too well. Coming in from the Big Apple means you've very little patience, Gin, which is something you'll be forced to learn in a little college town. Of course, if that's not your style, I'm sure you'll make enough of the right friends to make sure that you don't have to bother learning any new tricks."

He nodded his head towards the passenger side, silently inviting Gin to go in as he made his own way towards the driver's seat. "Flatter? Surely you jest. I only ever flatter if I want something. Given your present attire, I was only being truthful."

Inside the car, he asked, "How's business?"
