The knock at the door caught Izuru's attention immediately, and he set his notes on the kitchen counter as he started toward the door. When he opened the door, he stood surprised as Winry immediately began talking, stepping aside to let her into the house. He nodded as she talked about the eerie quiet of his house, and then her notes, closing the door and following her through the hallway. "I already have mine out," he told her, catching up and gesturing toward the kitchen. "I'll get them so you can look over them.

Lifting the notebook back off the counter, Izuru turned and handed it over to her. "Did you want to compare them quietly, or study together, or...?" He cocked his head toward the dining room, where the rest of his schoolwork was laid out meticulously, as it always seemed to be. "I can always study out of the book if you want to look at my notes," he suggested helpfully. He wasn't sure what Winry would want, but since she was studying at his house, the best he could do was try to be as accommodating as possible.

Winry headed into the kitchen when he directed her and over the the counter where his notebook was. She watched him as he gave out all those options, glancing past him into the dining room when he brought her attention to it. Smiling, she laughed quietly and put down her notebook. He was quite accommodating, seemingly prepared for anything.

"How about..." she began slowly, looking from her notebook to his. Biting her lip, she stopped that train of thought before quickly continuing on to the next, "Well, I'd like it if we could study together, maybe do a couple problems from the textbook? But I really want to compare our notes first."

Slipping into one of the chairs at the counter, she glanced into the dining room again. "In here, then?" Considering the clutter, though very organized clutter, on the table in the diving room their studying would be done in here.

Izuru nodded at the notebook she was now holding and smiled. "Go ahead then. I can review from the book while you do that, if that's what you want." He stepped into the dining room and retrieved his chemistry book, sliding into a chair near hers and opening the book to the chapter he had been reviewing the most heavily. Before he jumped in too heavily, he looked up and nudged Winry gently, pointing to the coded tabs on the side of the book.

"They're, er, marked by chapter," he explained, lifting one colored tab. He was quite aware quite how pathetic this made him, but if he couldn't keep them organized neatly, it made his life more difficult and... with the way he had scheduled this semester, between work and school and internships and everything else, he really couldn't afford anything that would make it any more complicated. If it kept him from having a nervous breakdown, Izuru didn't mind looking like the nerd. "So you can find what you're looking for easily."

Winry looked down at the tabs for a moment before leaning her elbow on the counter and resting her chin in her palm. The only marks her notes ever got on them where from some kind of grease or oil, she obviously wasn't the most organized girl in the world. "Okay... well, that makes half of this easy." She began flipping through her notebook trying to find the chapter that matched the one she had opened to in his notebook. Her notes were a mess, really. She took good notes and they were usually very detailed, but if she ever the entire chapter's notes in one area it was a shock.

As she began finding sections of that chapter's notes she began folding the corner of the page over so she could remember where her notes were. Once she had found the entire chapter's notes, she looked over at Izuru with a sheepish grin. "Um... I should probably invest in those little tab things."

Izuru watched Winry for a moment to make sure she had a good grasp of how his system worked, and then turned back to the book, flipping the page of the book and carefully studying over the information. When she spoke again, he looked up and smiled. "You don't have to... Most people don't bother with it. I'm just..." He looked between her and the notebook and laughed a little. "Ridiculous," he finished and shook his head. "Figure it an old habit. Besides, you're welcome to use my notes when you need to, if you're ever desperate for some sort of organization." He looked at her notes and smiled a little. They really were ( ... )

"No," Winry began, shaking her head slowly, "no, I really should. My notes are out of control." She flipped through a couple more pages of her notebook. "I guess I never really figured out how to take good notes. I mean, you know, in high school everything was written out exactly how we were supposed to copy it and then all of a sudden in college we have to take notes from a lecture... it's crazy." She grinned as she played with little tabs on his notes. "I like your notes. I think I'll steal your notes." She shook her head quickly as she came up with a better plan. "No! I'll make you my official note taker!"

Keeping her eyes on the notes in front of her, she couldn't tell how Izuru had reacted. Waving her hand dismissively, she quickly added, "Kidding... just kidding." She turned her attention away from the notes as Izuru continued speaking. "Don't worry," she said, amused at his near rambling. "I'm fine, at least for now."

At her declaration, Izuru stared at her for a few seconds before shaking off the incredulous look he couldn't quite help. No, she was joking and he knew as much, even before she waved her hand and told him so. Shrugging in response, he picked up the book and thumbed toward the back for a quick check of the index. "You can copy them if you need to," Izuru flicked his eyes over the top of the book, feeling faintly amused. "I think I might be too busy to make it to all your classes and still follow my own schedule, though."

But as long as she had everything she needed and he had fulfilled his duty as a host and study partner, everything was fine, even with the odd rambling he had somehow gotten into. Really, what was wrong with him? With a soft sigh, he relaxed into his chair and slowly lost himself in the book, pausing every few moments to make note of something in the small notebook next to him, or work out a quick calculation to make sure he had grasped the concept being described.

Shrugging, she continued on with a teasing tone. "Well, the obvious way to fix that problem is to have you quit everything else you do and just follow me around all day." Turning to wink at him, she continued, "Considering it would be absolutely no problem for you to put your life on hold and do whatever I wanted."

She returned her attention to their notes for a little longer. Winding towards the end of the chapter she was more concerned about, her focus began wandering. She looked around the kitchen, taking in the sheer size of it. Her eyes moved over the room for a few moments before settling on the boy sitting not too far from her. She found him amusing with his rambling and all his concern about being a proper host. "Izuru?" she began, leaning towards him. "I finished looking through your notes if you want to work on some stuff together now."

While Winry's attention waned, Izuru was still deeply focused on his book until the sound of his name burst through the haze he had wrapped his mind within. "Hm?" He looked up to see her leaning toward him and it took him another few seconds before he could comprehend what she was telling him. "Oh," he murmured, then shook his head and nodded. "Oh, yes." The notes were open toward the end of the chapter they covered, and he picked them up. "Did you want to review it together, or quiz one another or...?" He didn't know how she usually studied in partners, but he had found an ongoing dialogue helped with a lot of things. In this case, however, they would have to work through some of the theories and mathematical equations on their own on paper. For that, they'd have to work together in case one needed the other's help.

Flipping to the front of the notes, he pushed his chair back a bit and perused them quickly. "Anything you want to focus on in particular?"

Spinning her pen through her fingers, she rocked her head side to side as she thought. She didn't usually study with someone, she'd never really found anyone she really got along with in her other classes. Izuru, however, seemed like he was the perfect study mate since they were both pre-med students. "How about..." she began, speaking slowly, still thinking on what she wanted to do, "we review it together and then quiz one another? I feel like I need more reviewing before I get questions thrown at me."

Watching him for a few seconds, Winry scoffed softly. "Nothing in particular. Just the entire chapter, really."
