If the headache wasn't enough, then the hope for peace and quiet wasn't. His phone had gone off all day, mostly calls from his sister that he ignored. He wasn't being his usual sociable self, and that either had to do with his current hospitalization or the threats that Sasori had created in order to keep him a sitting duck.

Lazily, Kankuro padded to the door and unlocked it without opening it as he heard her voice on the other side. He made his way to the kitchen, his appetite small since the gash in his stomach still sat tenderly through the stitches.

He needed to eat though, and the apartment was lacking in food as it was his younger brother.

Amazingly, the door opened, whereas Temari was pretty sure that after her fourth round of knocks, she was going to have to pick the lock in order to get in. She didn't immediately move towards, the opening, instead standing outside for a moment more to observe her brother walk away from the door and to somewhere else, taking in his mood and condition. Pushing herself off of the door frame, she finally went inside and closed the door behind her, shifting the box of food she had onto her hip as she did so.

She silently followed him to the kitchen and set the box down on the counter, looking him over for a moment before she spoke. "Did you want me to make you something?" she asked, her eyes not reaching his, instead, looking down at the box before her.

It was obvious he hadn't really eaten in a few days, and hospital food wasn't exactly the full on nutrition that a boy Kankuro's size needed. Bare feet stood on the cold tile floor of the kitchen, and he looked at her with a silent plea.

He was too proud to ask for her comfort, but she was his sister. She had to know by the look in his eyes that he was beating himself up inside. There was so much he hadn't told her, and couldn't because of what it could do to him now. Sasori had thrown an iron cage around him and the guilt was eating away at him. Kankuro had not been like this in a long time, and he'd been doing so well prior. It was building up too much.

"Finally decided to come around," he said venomously even if he knew it wasn't what he'd wanted to say. Being that his sister had been missing in action for months, it took this to bring her around. He normally should be rather excited for the attention, but not today.

It was at the moment that Temari couldn't even look at her brother straight in the eyes, if only because she was feeling a certain brand of guilt on her own part. After all, wasn't she the one that had always promised to look after her two brothers without fail, even if it meant that she had to kill them? And here they were, missing one. But it was the responsibility of being the oldest that made Temari look up finally from the box of ingredients and looked at him straight in the eye, facing her own guilt.

Her own look wasn't one of anger, despite his words, rather one of simple concern and sadness at what her brother had gone through. Whether or not he wanted to talk about it, it was up to him.

"If you have something against hamburgers, speak up now," she said simply before she started to take out what she had brought for the makeshift dinner.
