Right? Ice cream is tasty, but honestly, it's just a transport mechanism for the toppings.

And now I'm curious, your thoughts on cake and ice cream served together? Because for me, I'm like, why would I want ice cream getting my cake soggy? Maybe in a separate bowl. Maybe.

But with pie and cobbler and fruit-things-that-are-baked (I made a blueberry-mango cobbler tonight!) ice cream right on it = A+

Yes this is it exactly! If I wanted soggy cake, I would... well, I wouldn't want soggy cake! Also, cake + frosting + ice cream is too much, my belly hurts already. And the flavors are NEVER compatible. Even if you think vanilla ice cream and vanilla cake, no. It is not the same. That is why they are two DIFFERENT THINGS.

(Like, oh, have you have birthday cake flavored ice cream? It is... I'd take a bite, because it's an experience I think everyone should have at least once, but it is also WRONG and tastes like science gone awry.)

But with cobblers! Or fruit pie! ESPECIALLY CHERRY! Because those have a tartness that NEEEEEDS the sweet and smooth of the ice cream, and a consistency that makes it more like an AMAZING TOPPING that is also a dessert! With a crust that serves as a sog-preventer!

Vanilla bean ice cream (Graeter's, preferably) with cherry pie is like, proof that the universe is good and pure.
